Information checked September 21, 2026. The Ontario Workforce Priority stream uses an Expression of Interest (EOI) score to rank registrations. Your score is useful, but it is not an eligibility decision or a promise of an invitation. Applicants must separately meet the stream requirements and support claimed points with documents.

Try our OINP Score Calculator for an estimate. Before making decisions, check the official Ontario Workforce Priority stream rules.

How the 130-point estimate works

The published scoring factors cover employment and labour-market factors (up to 70 points), education (up to 20), language (up to 25), and work location (up to 15). Employment factors include NOC TEER and occupational category, hourly wage, Ontario work experience, Canadian earnings history, and legal status. Education considers the highest qualifying credential and eligible Canadian credentials. Language points depend on approved test results. Regional points depend on the Ontario work location—not simply where the applicant lives.

Details matter. Ontario bases Canadian earnings-history points on a Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment issued in the last five years; it is not a forecast of future salary. A work or study permit must confer legal status for the associated status points. Ontario uses different experience scoring rules depending on whether a job-offer applicant is working in the job-offer position. For eligible self-employed physicians, the hourly-wage scoring factor does not apply.

Worked example: 89 out of 130

Consider a hypothetical job-offer applicant with a TEER 1 position in broad occupational category 1, a $35 hourly wage, 13 months of qualifying full-time Ontario experience in the job-offer position, a $50,000 Canadian earnings year supported by a qualifying CRA Notice of Assessment, and a valid work permit. Suppose the applicant also has a bachelor’s degree, one eligible Canadian credential, an approved language test with a lowest English CLB of 8, no qualifying second official language, and a work location in Peel Region.

Under Ontario’s published tables, those assumptions produce 56 employment points (9 + 4 + 12 + 15 + 6 + 10), 11 education points (6 + 5), 17 language points (12 + 5), and 5 regional points: 89/130. This is an illustration, not a real client’s result or a prediction. Changing an assumption or document can change the estimate. The example does not establish that the applicant or employer meets the separate program requirements.

What to check before relying on a score

  1. Confirm the five-digit NOC and TEER for the actual position and check the employer and job-offer requirements.
  2. Check the experience, education, language, licensing, and legal-status criteria that apply to your circumstances. These can differ by TEER and for eligible self-employed physicians.
  3. Keep evidence for every point claimed. Ontario requires supporting documents if you are invited to apply.
  4. Confirm the correct work region and whether the Ontario experience was in the specific job-offer position.
  5. Recheck Ontario’s current program page and applicant checklist before proceeding.
