Licensed RCIC guidance for Canadian work permit applications, extensions and complex work authorization matters in Brampton and across the Greater Toronto Area.

Canadian Work Permit Guidance

Canada has two main types of work permits: employer-specific work permits and open work permits. The correct option depends on your circumstances, eligibility, job offer and the rules that apply when you submit your application.

How Our RCIC Team Can Help

Employer-Specific and LMIA-Based Work Permits

An employer-specific work permit normally identifies the employer, work location and employment conditions. A genuine job offer is required, and the employer may need a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) unless an exemption applies.

Future Dreams Immigration does not sell jobs or LMIAs. We provide immigration advice and application support when a client has a genuine employment opportunity and the employer has completed, or is completing, the required process.

Open Work Permits

An open work permit is available only in specific situations. Depending on the applicable program, eligible applicants may include certain spouses or partners, graduates, permanent residence applicants, vulnerable workers and other groups identified by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Extensions and Maintained Status

IRCC recommends applying to extend or change the conditions of a work permit at least 30 days before it expires. A person who submits an eligible application before expiry may be allowed to remain in Canada while IRCC processes it and may be authorized to keep working under the conditions of the original permit. The rules depend on the application submitted, the person’s status and whether they remain in Canada.
