As of June 18, 2019, Canada has launched two new home caregiver pilot programs to assist home assistance caregivers in immigrating to Canada. They are intended to take the position of the LCP (Live-in Caregiver Program), which was closed to new candidates at the same time. But don't worry, under the new home care provider pilots, you'll be able to apply for permanent residency provided you have a legitimate employment offer or have previous work experience in Canada as a caregiver and meet the eligibility standards.
These are two distinct programs, and applications must be filed under the program to which your offer and talents are best suited.
The below listed programs are the two new immigration pilots offered to Home Care Providers.
Both 5-year pilot programs are designed to assist foreign qualified and experienced home childcare providers and home support workers in relocating to Canada and obtaining permanent residency.
Home child care providers assist parents in caring for their children and may be required to assist with household responsibilities. Carers can offer care in their own homes or in the homes of their employers, as opposed to the Remain-in Caregiver Program, which requires caregivers to live in their employer's house.
Home support workers provide personal care and companionship to elders, people with disabilities, and those in rehabilitation through times of recuperation, incapacity, and family disruption. Preparing meals, feeding, bathing, changing dressings, administering prescriptions, and other ordinary housekeeping activities are among the responsibilities. Care is provided in the homes of their employers or clients, where the home care worker may be compelled to live. Children may be cared for by home support workers, but this should not be their major role.
